As Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles approach their third wedding anniversary, friends of the royal couple are concerned their marriage is falling apart.
The couple has been caught arguing in front of staff and Camilla has been taking refuge at her country retreat, according to the Daily Mail.
“The rows have been escalating over the past three months,” the newspaper quoted a “well-placed source” as saying.
“The staff are getting tired of it because you can’t help but hear the shouting.”
Prince Charles and Camilla — who once described a Caribbean cruise with the heir to England’s throne as a “nightmare” — are due to spend two weeks together in Scotland after their anniversary on Wednesday.
Camilla has only accompanied her royal husband to one quarter of British events since their marriage.
And she has recently been spending more time alone at Ray Mill — her old family home in Wiltshire.
One royal aide blamed the conflict on Charles’s personality and his disappointment by Camilla’s resistance to adapting to royalty.
“The problem is, Camilla isn’t really pompous or conscious of status and hierarchy, but he is and always has been,” he said.
“She had a free life before, having fags, drinking, going on riding holidays and she can’t do any of those anymore.”
Camilla has been romantically linked to Prince Charles since 1970, a decade before Prince Charles married Diana.
Princess Diana once said there were three people in her marriage.
